Punk has always prided itself in being rough, stripped back with its under developed arrangements. Girl Pool carry on that tradition with their debut, self titled EP. Girlpool may lack crashing drums but they still manage to be right up in your grill with no room to flee! They in unison belt out their vocals, 'ramming' them down your throat. The directness of the performances and lyricism mean that you hardly notice how skeletal most of these songs are too, hanging on binary A/B arrangements, shuffling around a few chords. However, Girl Pool aren't aiming to construct 'gallant melodies' .... their sounds are aimed to come at you thick and fast!
